That's just how it works for him! Some quirks are like that, but I'm lucky that mine doesn't need anything special.

I dunno, ice cream's good, but I don't wanna brain freeze myself every time I wanna use The Hand... Cake or something, that'd be okay. I know a guy who makes a really good flan! You'd like it!

[It's what he deserves! But not really. No one deserves to be tortured by dreams of delicious food, and so Ochako reaches over and gently pats him on the arm. She understands.]

It's okay! It was a tough question. [Totally unfair, actually.] But I bet we'll get more quests soon, and then you and I can go earn lots of food. We might even get something completely different next time!

[Ochako genuinely thinks that potatoes are pretty useful items to receive, but. He gets one last pat. Poor Okuyasu, the King of Purple Potatoes.]

What if we don't have to punch anything next time? The quests could be easy ones. [Wait, that's probably a depressing thought for him, so she's just going to mosey right along.] No matter what we have to do, though, if we get to pick our reward, we should each pick something different so that we can split them between us! Things are always better when you share them with a friend.
