[ OPEN/CATCH-ALL ] the crickets still sing in october.
WHO: dextera! and others!
WHERE: all around town, in a variety of places!
WHEN: october!
WHAT: an open prompt for quest 29’s skeletons (eating them), and whatever else comes up!
WARNINGS: he’s eating bones.
i. NO BONES ABOUT IT (OPEN)
[ dextera used to have a pretty healthy habit for eating bones—it used to be his thing, in fact, but lately he hasn’t had as much of a reason to eat them with all the color popping back up around town. they still provide some nutritional value to him, though, considering the way his body works, and what better to start hoarding for winter than by disassembling skeletons and biting right through their brittle bodies?
throughout the month, catch him doing this exact thing. sometimes he defeats the skeletons before chomping them, and sometimes he just rips the arm off one with his teeth like a dog. the latter, however, he’s only doing if he thinks no one is watching. ]
ii, but new. SEXY NUN COSTUME (~10/17 - 10/19)

ii, but new. SEXY NUN COSTUME (~10/17 - 10/19)
[ dextera got this costume from carving a pumpkin, and it’s probably going to stay on him for a solid three days. he can’t hide in his house for the whole time, especially once the harvest festival starts up, but he also doesn’t want to be seen in it—so of course, people have to see him in it, because that’s the way rp works.
whenever he does have to leave his house, he tries to wear a coat, but the unfortunate reality of this outfit is that still leaves his habit, the jewelry, the socks, and the heels to see from practically any angle. a more discerning eye will definitely see upon looking at him from the front that he’s wearing a dress that was definitely meant for someone with breasts. he’s wobbly walking around in the first place, and it’s only by the grace of god that the few times he trips, the back of his coat is long enough to keep from flashing his ass to the world.
let him die! ]

pavaal ! )

Just... don't chew in public. You'll worry people.
[ and she's already plenty worried about him in a multitude of ways. ]
no subject
…
[ dextera nods, tying off the thread with the bones he’s collected before pocketing them once more. they’re safe and unchewed, so isn’t that good enough? ]
no subject
Come along. I'll lead the way - I've been wanting to see your power in work again, but we can always take turns clubbing their heads off.
[ he made an impressive shot, so she has to do better now too. ]
no subject
he follows her, dutiful as ever. ]
They’re pretty… weak.
no subject
To better elaborate - if they can enter town, does that mean any monster can now?
[ it's the most outstanding part of all this. the skeletons, while weak and easy to take out, can be a sign of bad omens to come. ]
no subject
I wonder if… we can put up barriers.
no subject
[ large swaths of monsters appearing in ways they never have before makes her immediately fall to dire prediction. though she tries to retain optimism, truth is she's still a pessimist at heart. ]
For now we just have to keep them at bay. And hope nothing worse happens.
no subject
Tell Guren your worries.
[ and in the meantime… there’s another skelly trying to get the jump on zelda, but very slowly. ]
no subject
"Don't worry about it, Princess, we'll handle it like always."
[ it's a terrible, terrible impression of guren's voice and has her trademark Fantasy British™ accent still in tone. is it mean to dunk on his boyfriend? maybe, but it's fun and they're having a good time.
speaking of good times, she waits for the skeleton to get right up close and then extends her hand out to channel her seal. a quick flash of light and the skeleton bones drop to the ground, the curse within extinguished. ]
no subject
[ dextera can’t help it. when zelda makes fun of guren so gruffly, the combination of aspects about it makes him bark out a laugh, and he keeps his hands clapped over his mouth while he watches her destroy the skeleton.
it collapses, but he’s not sure what was more impressive—her power or her impersonation. ]
Very good.
no subject
Alright then, it's your turn. [ she takes a large step back so that dextera can be up ahead of her, grinning. another skeleton is coming up hot (or cold, in pace.) ] Show me what you've got.
no subject
…
[ as soon as the skeleton is close enough, dextera pulls his hand back in gearing up for a punch—and his hand illuminates with that familiar holy glow, before he throws all his strength into swinging at it.
rather than shattering upon impact, it dissipates. ]
no subject
(she wants to ask more about it and a question rests on the tip of her tongue, but the other facet to their relationship should be kept separate and apart from the present one.) ]
I have to say, you surprised me the first time I saw you use it. [ she steps forward again to come back to his side, hands laced behind her back. ] I never expected it out of you, perhaps at my own mistake. Is it wrong to admit that?
[ it's a tremendous power in the hands of someone who has only ever been kind. maybe that's why there's no fear. ]
no subject
Everyone says that.
[ everyone assumes dextera is kind, sweet, a pacifist through and through. they’d be wrong, but it’s flattering that they think it. ]
I’m looking forward… to the day that it’s gone.
no subject
[ she doesn't think a power should be relinquished, but there's no point in raising that thought. it's not her place to object to his desires. ]
no subject
he assumes that, eventually, god will take her power back and his voice will be returned to him—but maybe not. really, he has no idea how this is all supposed to work. ]
I just think… it makes more sense for someone like you to have this power.
no subject
[ the problem was unlocking its use, and still she can only speculate on the reasons it took so long. ]
But you know, a gift is a gift nonetheless. Even if you don't want it, and one day will relinquish it, you were given it for a reason.
[ whether it's a good or a bad one doesn't feel so relevant. everything happens for a reason. ]
no subject
We can talk about it… next time.
[ they’re skirting too close to the conversations best had with two weeks in between, but dextera doesn’t seem upset. he just knows he might get that way, if they pursue it. ]
…how many skeletons have you… destroyed?
no subject
Well -- how many have you?
no subject
…
[ after a moment to consider, he shakes his head. ]
I haven’t… counted.
no subject
[ ...this is actually kind of terrible, and her cringing tone matches the expression on her face. oops. ]
no subject
[ dextera spells it out, even though it’s an italian word and he’s technically using italian sign language here. his heart is not actually in the sign for it. ]
We have several “bravos.”
no subject
[ or it doesn't feel good, as she starts to actually reflect on her actions. having a conscious is tough. these skeletons are an army of darkness, but one must be mindful of their conduct and she hasn't. ]
...I think we should head back. We've cleared out enough for now.
no subject
They’ll be back… tomorrow. I think.
[ they don’t stop coming. ]
no subject
[ it makes sense to her at least, but it does make the implications of the quest existence troubling. ]
