WARNINGS: he’s eating bones.
i. NO BONES ABOUT IT (OPEN)
[ dextera used to have a pretty healthy habit for eating bones—it used to be his thing, in fact, but lately he hasn’t had as much of a reason to eat them with all the color popping back up around town. they still provide some nutritional value to him, though, considering the way his body works, and what better to start hoarding for winter than by disassembling skeletons and biting right through their brittle bodies?
throughout the month, catch him doing this exact thing. sometimes he defeats the skeletons before chomping them, and sometimes he just rips the arm off one with his teeth like a dog. the latter, however, he’s only doing if he thinks no one is watching. ]
ii, but new. SEXY NUN COSTUME (~10/17 - 10/19)

[ dextera got this costume from carving a pumpkin, and it’s probably going to stay on him for a solid three days. he can’t hide in his house for the whole time, especially once the harvest festival starts up, but he also doesn’t want to be seen in it—so of course, people have to see him in it, because that’s the way rp works.
whenever he does have to leave his house, he tries to wear a coat, but the unfortunate reality of this outfit is that still leaves his habit, the jewelry, the socks, and the heels to see from practically any angle. a more discerning eye will definitely see upon looking at him from the front that he’s wearing a dress that was definitely meant for someone with breasts. he’s wobbly walking around in the first place, and it’s only by the grace of god that the few times he trips, the back of his coat is long enough to keep from flashing his ass to the world.

Are your teeth... a different hardness level, then? I thought all bone would be the same.
[ That's how it is for rocks after all. All quartzes share the same hardness, shouldn't all bones be the same too? As in, they shouldn't be able to break each other??? Maybe Dextera has hidden diamonds for teeth. They don't know!!! ]

It depends… where you bite the bones. They’re weak in some places.
[ if anyone is going to get this mini-lesson, it would be cairngorm. he opens his mouth, gesturing to the canines and the premolars. the fates came together that he would be able to sign an explanation with his mouth occupied, like this. ]

I see. So there are stronger and weaker ones. [ Nod. Then another nod. This is the kind of information that they can't glean from fairy tales, and their knowledge about human anatomy is actually quite lacking considering how long they've been here. ] I don't really know anything about that, since my kind don't have any teeth. We don't need to eat, after all...
[ They nudge at some bones on the ground with their blade, thinking about how brittle they are. ]
Do you use them to hunt, too? It looked like that for a moment.

right, of course cairngorm wouldn’t understand what’s “normal” for humans. they may have lived through the werewolf epidemic, but they were never infected. they wouldn’t know that the urge to bite like that is pretty unnatural, or at least an instinct that should have been bred out of humans a long time ago.

[ Cairn has to admit they haven't exactly seen a ton of humans biting other animals imagery in books. Then again, could still be coincidence. ]

For survival. But most humans… have a long way to go, before they get to this point.
[ which does leave a question open of why dextera is doing this when he’s not trying to survive anything, clearly, but hopefully it’s enough for cairngorm to sate their curiosity. ]

Human eating habits sure are complicated... [ This comes off as more of a complaint than an observation. ] I don't know how you keep track of it all. I never thought that hard about how much work it takes for animals to survive until I got here.
[ Or that some animals would eat the bones of their similar kind? But okay. Which things can be eaten raw and which not (they learned this the hard way when they were giving out onions), how much they need to eat everyday... it's so much to think about, at least to someone who's main survival concern is to be in the sun for a few hours a day. ]

dextera understands, though. just like cairngorm is a rock to most of the people in this town, there’s not really much of a difference between the human inhabitants and animals except that one of those sets of people can talk. there was that talking pigeon a few months ago, however. ]
I never really thought about… what it would be like to be anything else.

[ At least, not in their opinion, when they're thinking of it in terms of "basics of what I need to do to survive". There are a few more skeletons making their way towards the pair, which they heave out a sigh at, neither very concerned or interested, but lift their blade from the dirt regardless. ]
Even in fighting, I don't have to care too much if something's hardness is less than mine. For example— [ They point with their blade. ] Those skeletons there. Not that they're much of a threat to you and your appetite either...

[ That's as close to a 'thank you' or an open accepting of his kindness as he'll get from Cairngorm (which is still a great feat), and they try to distract themself by swinging at the oncoming skeletons with the blunt side of their blade - the result of which, is that they all sorta knock into each other until its a pile of bones, ripe for the picking. ]
