I don't know what TV is! Your world must be more advanced than mine, but—
[And before he can babble on about how exciting card game shows on "TV" sound, the sound of a tree branch snapping comes from off to their left, kind of like an impatient monster clearing its throat after its waited ten minutes for them to look around.
[She'd be happy to talk about TV and card game shows and any other show, really, all day except...
She looks as well and...oh. There was a second where she thought she saw a shape--something humanlike but she couldn't pick out any details when, all of a sudden, the forest wasn't the forest anymore. There was concrete beneath her feet and Kaoru has never seen this scene before except in a puppet show format but she felt it in her very core: she has been here. It was Igou's prediction.] ...but we changed it. [Dread gripped her heart and it was like she couldn't breathe all of a sudden.] We were supposed to have overcome this future!
[Was this...not the prediction then? How many people could see one at the same time, anyway? She steps a bit closer, turning herself a little so more of her back was to him.]
I don't know, but this is--I know this place. [Her heart was thudding in her chest because this was that future and right in front of her she can see the door leading to the rooftop and that was where Minamoto was supposed to--] It's not real. It can't be.
[Ling turns as well, putting them more squarely back-to-back as he draws his sword. There isn't anything there so far, besides their surroundings changing abruptly, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.]
It's real for the moment, so treat it like it is-- How do we get out of this place? Which direction?
[It made her feel better, to have someone at her back and that temporary comfort helped. He wasn't Shiho or Aoi, wasn't Minamoto, but she wasn't alone and that was enough to calm her down.
And that mean, in addition to the dread and panic in her chest, there was anger there too...because how dare they show her this! Something was causing this and when she found them she was going to kick their ass!]
...I'd say the door, but I'm pretty sure whatever is messing with us is probably going to try to make their entrance from there.
[And just as she says that the door bursts open and a guy with glasses holding a gun burst out. Shouting something like Don't move Queen of Catastrophe--
And was cut off when she threw a hand out and sent him flying.]
Don't use Minamoto's face, you bastard!
[And just like that the image surrounding them peels away and--holy crap. That thing is really ugly??]
[Okay, a lot is happening at once that Ling doesn't have context for-- but he's ready to go, turning to face the sudden appearance of some dude and catching only a glimpse before Kaoru... banishes the whole image? It's a little sickening to watch what looks like a man's face peel away to reveal some king of thing, and Ling steps forward to stand beside her now that they know where it is.
Boy is it ugly--]
Out of politeness, I am not even asking what's going on. Let's— [move, but the moment he so much as puts a toe forward, the creature rears back- maybe? it's hard to tell which side is the front- and then spins, crashing away through the trees.
[This is one face she is probably never going to forget.
She had explained a bit of this to Akira, but this? It involved all the bits she hadn't wanted to talk about at all. Which was why she's glad he wasn't going to ask (at least not now. She'll have to see about later), but then the thing is running away.
That bastard! After it'd gone and pissed her off it thought it could escape just like that!?]
Hey!
>[She considers just picking Ling up and flying after it, but then, she didn't want to have to explain to him what was happening if he started to scream...she really should have just explained about her powers to begin with. Ah, well.

She can improvise. Her feet leaves the ground.]
I'll cut it off in front!
