She had learned of fear when she had first awakened for the one who awakened her had already seen the destruction her "brother" had already done to the world and inadvertently imprinted that wariness to her. That had translated to her trying to limit her own power, to regulate, but in the end... ]
Then how about a weapon... that can lose control? [ She presses, softly. ] How about a weapon that, at its core, has... the privilege to destroy the world? [ For it is indeed a privilege, what her Father had given her. She cannot describe it as anything but, for her other sibling did not have that same power.
She raises her eyes to meet his, new tears forming at their corners. ] Wouldn't anyone be afraid. Wouldn't he, wouldn't you, wouldn't everyone be afraid of... upsetting something like that, if it could lose control? [ Her voice sounds weak, as if this is but a rhetorical question. ] It would be safer to run and avoid anything to do with it.

Perhaps they would be afraid of it, but that is if it did not have the soul that you have. [ Breathing in, he turns his gaze back at her. Inside, he flinches at seeing how tears are forming at the corner of her eyes -- it's why he had to look away before as he felt his heart clench at seeing them. ]
The kindness that you've given us... the fact that we're all sharing stars in the sky... [ He reaches his hand out to take hers. ] Why do you think the worst thing possible?
1/3
[ Her eyes drop to his hand that takes hers in his, but her fingers scarcely move to intertwine with his further. It's not like she's a sad person-- wait, no, okay, she is. She really is. But she isn't someone who looks upon things so negatively. She has hopes, lost of them, and most of all of them for others. ] Because if I don't...
I might want to stay. [ The word is spoken with such heaviness that it implies much more than simply staying in this world, in Chroma. It means remaining, existing. And the most terrible thing about it is that she already does want to stay, she realizes. She doesn't want just want to abandon everyone she's left, all that she's made for herself here. She wants to continue to be with others! But that just makes it all the more difficult because she knows that if she doesn't find a way to destroy herself, everyone could be in danger. ]
A weapon like me must be destroyed, because those that I care about might end up paying the price. So it's good... that I'm feared, in the end. Good that this is the way things are; they should avoid me, and-- you. You, too. Everyone should. I shouldn't be upset about it, I have to accept this, this-- this is good-- [ Yet, here she is with tears falling down her cheeks, dropping onto the back of his hand. It was easier to not have emotions, to not be so human. ]

He lifts his chin a little at the word 'stay,' as he can almost feel the weight of it pressing down on her as much as it is himself. Somehow, he keeps himself from saying anything. But as soon as she continues, he wishes he had interrupted her.
He feels his eyes widening as a look of horror touches his face -- one that he isn't able to control from showing. What are you saying! What do you mean that you should just accept that?! His mouth partially opens yet he can't quite get his thoughts to become words. ]
no subject
His head lightly shakes, but he isn't sure what he's saying 'no' to just yet. There's a lot that I want to deny about what is being said right now, okay?! ]
no subject
[ He clamps his lips together as he realizes that the tone that he's using is harsh, angry. A person shouldn't sound mad when they're trying to comfort someone else yet that's what comes out first. It comes out first because he's so worried; he's worried and let the words and emotions get mixed up inside. ]
Please don't... please don't think that about yourself.
no subject
Her hand falls form her lips, and somehow she's able to control her voice. Quietly, ]
It's the right sort of ending... Because I love everyone here. [ She doesn't abhor herself, she doesn't feel sorry for herself. She just wants to ensure that everyone else lives. ]
That sword I told you about, that one that has foresight, the one that has destroyed so much, the one created by the god of my world, my Father. There, I must beg him to let me die, but... [ She confesses. ] You would destroy it yourself, if you could, if it meant saving those you love. You would destroy it, wouldn't you. [ She's trying to have him understand, at least, that that is what she's trying to do. That in order to protect others, she has to do what's necessary. He's familiar with such difficult choices, she knows he is, and she's using that against him to try to convince him to see it her way. ] Wouldn't you?
1/3
How can--because you want everyone else to live, you have to die! What sort of idea is that?! You're a sword that can see into every future! So isn't there a future where you can be with us! ]
no subject
Right, you're immortal... you've lived a long time... His hand remains cupping the side of her face as he looks at her carefully. A long time being alone, too, if I remember. Locked away because it was dangerous. Because they said that about you, because you know that about yourself. ]
no subject
[ His voice mimics hers in how quiet it is. He knows that she wants to convince him that it would be best to destroy her; he understands what she's trying to do, but he can't let her think that way. ]
You're one that I love, too, after all. A future where you are with us... that is what I would seek. [ He swallows, feeling like his words are starting to stick together. ] That is what you want, as well, ah?
no subject
It's not just him, either. It's others, others who Mythra would easily call idiots, fools-- but that's not entirely true. Those that know, all of those that happen to know any of part of this secret of hers that she believes she must be destroyed are smart. They're scholars, they're strategists, they're leaders, they're fighters; they are people who are the furthest thing from fools. They're strong. Why can't she listen to them as well, listen to what they're saying?
Because the fear she carries, the fear that she can hurt them... makes her numb. And it's only with their persistence that she's gotten this far to chip away from that fear.
She closes her eyes, her tears running over the ridges of his fingers as his hand remains pressed against her cheek. His touch feels both like silk and needles, like something soft that she wants, yet something that hurts because she cannot have. Tender moments like these, bonds-- if she had never been stolen from Elysium, if she had never been awakened and posed as a Blade, if everything had remained the same-- she never would have had those experiences. She would never have had to be reminded that at the end of the day, ultimately she must return to her Father, whether to beg to be erased or to function in her original capacity once more.
But his hand is there, and he is there, and he's doing a good job of comforting her. Bonds are dangerous because he's right. She does want to stay, and she does want that future. He's figured it out already, he's calling her out. ] Ah...
[ It takes a long moment, but her eyes slowly open up to look at him again, distraught but quieted. ] Am I that easy to read? My selfishness.
no subject
As soon as he gets control of himself, he is able to speak, again. ]
What selfishness? [ His voice sounds a little rough to his ears but he clears his throat. ] What selfishness? [ He repeats himself. ] There is nothing wrong with wishing... with wanting to be with us, because that is what we want as well.
[ Is this what she had wanted to tell me? What she had been holding in? He's glad that she finally told him so that he can tell her that isn't anything that anyone wants! He'll tell her it as many times as she needs. This truth isn't one that you need to be holding onto by yourself, okay?! It isn't one that you need to keep thinking on your own! ]
You're thinking of us... you're always thinking of us... and of the worlds... and our future... [ A beat. ] But it wouldn't be better if you weren't there. The world wouldn't be better, our lives wouldn't be better... if you weren't there.
no subject
[ Isn't it's better to be alive than being dead? Even if she's not there. That's what she's trying to say.
...She lifts her hand up to place it over his that is on her cheek, leaning into his touch. Her eyes are bright, ruby-like with the shine of her tears. She even tries to smile for him. ] I want to ensure... that someone like you has a future.
I don't-- I don't understand how wanting to stay here, even when I'm dangerous, even when others fear what I might do without control... isn't selfish.
no subject
[ He realizes that he's just splitting hairs with that comment, but says it all the same. Adjusting how he holds her face, he gently rubs his thumb underneath her eye to try to wipe away some more of those tears. ]
Because wanting to be happy shouldn't be considered a selfish thought. [ Of course, he gets it! Because she sees her existence as a ticking time bomb. Because he sees his own as the same. Yet someone who thinks so much about the world, about the futures of others, about wanting people to live -- ]
You deserve to live.

But although she sounds helpless, she's really not. She's been swayed again by him, told what she wishes she could believe herself. She knows she has the opportunity to change things here. After all, it's not like she has all of her power here, all of her artifices, and there are so, so, so many powerful people here as well. Perhaps, perhaps if she did lose control, perhaps there would be some that could stop her or restrain her.
--Dangerous. It's dangerous to have hope. To let herself have these feelings. Because she's experienced hope before and that terrible loss.
But it would be a dishonor to all that he has done for her, and others, if she gave up completely by now...
For now, however, she'll just have to cry a little bit more to overcome it. ]

He lets his hand drop down to her shoulder so that he could pull her into a loose embrace. At least, it starts out as a loose hug before he tightens his arms around her.
Once more, he feels like he should say more to her, but he decides that she needs a moment of silence to cry, to be comforted without having to worry about responding.
His hand lifts to gently stroke her hair, as she had done for him in the past. His smile is soft as he thinks of how things come around -- the sort of good karma that she deserves to build up and be repaid. ]
I'm really lucky to have met you. [ Even as he said that he didn't want to say anything, those words slip out all the same. Because he is lucky to have met her; he's certain that is how everyone else feels as well. ]
no subject
I'm really lucky to have met you.
She wants to believe in those words, in the trust she has in him. He's been so good to her, he's been patient with her, he's laughed with her, he's seen her cry, he's being patient with her, he's shared a lot of his own life with her. ]
Th--thank you. [ She whispers to him. Although her voice is still unsteady, she speaks with a little more conviction. ] For... everything. [ She's normally one to go on and list out everything she might appreciate in another person, but this time she lets fewer words stand for a greater meaning. ]
You really are incredible.
no subject
You're welcome, but I'm only giving back a little of what you've already given. The good that you've given me. [ He says it outright so that she doesn't get confused, so that she doesn't think that it isn't anything that she deserves. Didn't you help me before? Didn't you help others? Don't think that doesn't mean anything, okay? ]
Every bit of kindness that you've given... it's meant a lot. I'll be... well, I'm certain I'm not the first to say it, but it's been something that we needed without realizing that it. [ A softer smile touches his words. ] So, thank you.
1/2 still me
It's Mythra, her back to hers within her mindscape. Within the void of her mind she's still in Shen Qinqiu's embrace, but he's frozen in place, a perfect replica.
Her voice is oddly quiet, soft, and uncharacteristically reflective. She's had a lot to think about this past week, about the not!wedding, about how Xie Lian and Wei Wuxian told her, about her doubts. She feels things just as keenly as Pyra does, but is much more impulsive in her reactions.... But here, she wants to comfort Pyra.
We can... Let's...
Her words die off-- ]
2/2
Let's accept them... These kind words. They feel nice to believe in, don't they?
The vision within her mind fades, and, silently, Pyra finally she returns the embrace, resting her head upon his chest as his hand goes to the back of her head. ] This... This means a lot to me, that you... [ That he's holding her, despite telling him that she's dangerous. ] That you are willing to be close to me... to be my friend.
[ A small smile forms upon her lips, and after a moment long, she pulls away just enough to that she might look at him. ] I... enjoy being kind to you and others. Because... you and others-- it is like you are not kind to yourself. [ And she doesn't want to be a source of negativity in others' lives, like how she thinks she is with Wei Wuxian now. ] Or not as kind to yourself as I think you should be.
no subject
Mmn. [ Shen Qingqiu makes a soft noise at her saying how much it means to her that he's still so close to her and still willing to consider being her friend. ] You helped to save me, too, and I cannot forget that.
[ He lets his arms drop a little as she pulls away from him. His smile soft as she looks at him, before he freezes at how he isn't too kind to himself. I put a pin in that issue! A pin! I'm aware of it! I'm going to work on it, eventually, okay? ]
I suppose it may be that we've forgotten how to love ourselves. But ... we're able to know how to care about others, and remembering what it is to like who we are through our friendship with each other, with you.
no subject
It could be the same with being kind to oneself, and loving oneself, she thinks. ] If that is the case, that you have forgotten to love yourself... then I will gladly love you, in your stead.
[ Her cheeks are still damp, but she's smiling softly at him, at least. ] That's part of looking out for one another, isn't it?
