[open] It's a (very belated) birthday log!
WHO: Kaoru, Shiho and friends
WHERE: Town hall
WHEN: Last week of February
WHAT: It's Shiho's birthday
WARNINGS: None probably.
I: Food!
[What is a party without food? Kaoru can't cook but she happens to know people who can! There's even a cake! She may have borrowed a table from another house for the purpose of keeping the food.
Though, oddly enough, there's also a small card (all of them different colour and sizes, some of them looked like they'd been gently folded then ripped along the fold) beside each dish with a number on it. There's also a list (all handwritten in pink), with the same numbers all listed on one side and lines beside it like something you should fill out.
On the top it says: Guess Who Made This Dish!
Are you here to play or are you just here to eat?]
II: Games!
[There is a hastily written sign on one side that says: NO DANCING.
But every party needs entertainment so beside there is a sign with game suggestions like: Truth or Dare, Never Have I Ever...or maybe you'd like to take your list from the food table and see if you got more correct than the person beside you!]

The talisman that he gave her -- or rather, she took!! -- is one that even a low-leveled cultivator would be able to use. He has gotten quite vell-versed in creating high-quality goods usable to anyone given the old company that he kept. If Airplane-bro died, I'd be in trouble!
After all, Shen Qingqiu had no one else that he could trust to look after his growing plant body! So, he set forth the task in figuring out how to create such spells -- and didn't realize the fruit of his labor would end with him giving it away to a teenage girl willy-nilly in an attempt to try to give a good birthday present! ]
Is it possible for you not to say that you will be irresponsible so calmly? [ I'm the irresponsible one here!! ]

Idly (as if she isn't holding a grenade in her hand), Shiho turns the slip of paper this way and that, though she... can definitely see the hard work put into this and probably exactly how to use this thanks to her psychometry. Mostly she's just making a big show out of this to see if he'll be undignified enough to try and take it back.]
Then how should I say it? Should I lie and say I'll be responsible?
[Actually she probably will be mostly responsible about this. Don't worry, Shen Qingqiu, she's a good girl at heart.
Unless Kaoru or Minato are in danger then all bets are off and she'll use this grenade to burn the forest down.]

His eyes focus on the slip of paper, even as he keeps his expression cold and aloof. The tell, of course, is that his shoulders are slightly shaking as his worry is starting to eat away at him. Teasing is teasing, but be careful, hey! ]
Did you not just lie and say you'd be irresponsible? [ His head lightly tilts. He's onto the birthday-girl. How could he not be? She got him clothes even if she teased him the entire time; she sang him a song even though she roasted him pretty badly afterwards; she's a good girl and so he wants to keep her safe. ]

Seeing him look at the slip of paper though, she raises it with a pout... then lowers it, just to see if he'll keep looking. (But she is doing it much more gently. She can see what this thing is, after all.)]
It's my birthday party, I'm allowed to say anything I want. [That's not how birthday parties work, Shiho.]

Exactly how old are you turning, ah?
no subject
Maybe.
Or maybe not because she's moving it again, this time from left to right.]

If we're gaining experiences, changing, growing from who we were... we're getting older even if our bodies are not. [ Out with the old and in with the new, or something, something, something. ]
And, seventeen is already an adult. You can't act however you please on your birthday.
no subject
Show-off. [Who even says something like that out loud?!]
And you know that sounds exactly like something a disillusioned adult would say. I'm not going to become the kind of adult who can't do whatever they want on their own birthday.
no subject
He does look up at her protests. I'm an old man! Leave me alone! ]
And why's that? [ Really, he's the kind of person that'd be happy with a ray of sunshine on him and being able to sip a cup of tea. If he had that on his birthday, he'd be the most content. ]
no subject
What do you mean "why"? Because I. Don't. Want. To. Be.
[And she's always been taught that there are limitless possibilities. She can go wherever she wants to go, be whoever she wants to be.]
no subject
Very well. I'll give up. I already know that it's pointless to fight too much about things when you have your mind set on it.
[ Besides, she's seventeen and this isn't the novel world. If it was, he would have to do a lot more scolding. But she's from the modern age and in an alternate world; tearing it up is more than fine. He just wanted to be a responsible parent for a little bit, okay?! ]
no subject
[Minamoto did a good job, after all. If she does bad things, he'll cry.]
Thank you for this, by the way. [The grenade which she's going to carefully put away now.] I'll take good care of it.
no subject
[ That's just how he rolls. ]
You're welcome. [ So, the roasting is finished. Good, good. ] I trust that you will.
no subject
...Thank you. For that too. [For trusting her. For worrying about her.]
