seeing in monochrome
WHO: Wei Wuxian and you!
WHERE: Anywhere in Chroma, but mostly his townhouse
WHEN: Days 1-7 after the hearts event. Please note the day in your tag header!
WHAT: Pyra unlocked the Bad End in his heart, and now he's lost all color and emotion. Note that he'll be in full technicolor, and back to himself, at the end of day 7 (the transition is closed to Pyra).
WARNINGS: None
[ Wei Wuxian has lost all color, and with it all interest in his surroundings. His face, usually alive with a smile, is dull and grey. The playful light in his eyes is extinguished. He spends his days in bed or sitting in his Ruga townhouse, idle; he'll only leave if he's dragged out. Neither eating nor drinking hold any interest for him. Most of the time, when spoken to, he won't answer. But if pressed, if you really push him, what he'll tell you is: ]
Get lost.

4's an unlucky number, let's pick that
But so many days without hide nor hair of Wei Wuxian seems almost unnatural in their silence, and having made a good number of mutual acquaintances by now, it's inevitable that he'd show up at the other man's house sooner or later. So here he is now, standing over the bed, frowning down at the colorless shell of a brokenhearted man.]
.....You can't stay in bed forever, you know.
[It's said in a gentle enough tone of voice, despite the frown--any worry he feels kept successfully bottled inside for the moment. Is this like what had happened before? Will the color return on its own? He honestly wishes he knew.]

But... he can't muster the motivation to do even that. Being visited, dragged out, force-fed: it's all slightly annoying, as it disturbs the nothingness of his inner state. But once the people go away, oblivion returns. He'll wait it out. ]
I can.
[ He knows, on some abstract level, that if he continues to stay here, he'll die. However, the difference between death and his current state of being is negligible, so it's a true statement, as far as he's concerned. ]
Go away.

[He may not have any idea how to bring back his color, but broken or not, a man can't live (or improve) if he stays buried in blankets, in the dark solitude of his room.
He doesn't address the second comment.]
What happened to you? Can you tell me? I'm here to help you, if I can.

Finally he stirs and says: ]
I killed…
[ Pyra, his sister, thousands of cultivators… to be complete he should add the people he failed to protect, the last of the Wen clan… no, to be very complete, he ought to include his adoptive father and mother and the near-entirety of the Jiang Sect…
…
He exhales. ]
I killed everyone.

Is that what Pyra saw, the day she broke him? A battlefield, a slaughter...an undead summoning gone wrong? Or right? There's no way he can know, with what little information he has--and who exactly Wuxian killed isn't important now.
Xie Lian rests his hands on the bed, leaning closer.]
...I can't claim to know your past. I can't judge the things you've done. But I know that you are a good person, Wei Wuxian. A good man with good intentions. And you have friends right now, who worry about you.

How pointless. He exhales, plucking absently at the bed covers. ]
None of that matters.

Xie Lian leans still closer, one hand reaching over to rest on the man's shoulder, a gentle effort to get access to his neck. (If he can get that curse shackle back it should help things a little, right?)]
It does. Whether you think so or not, it does. There are still people left alive, aren't there? People you care about.
no subject
It's the same to me. I don't care.
[ ...about anything or anyone. Isn't it better that way? His eyes lid. Memories crowd through his mind, the old and the recent. He's aware of them, conceptually, as being unbearably painful, grinding his heart to dust. He's aware that he was the cause of all of it, too. He should stay like this. Like this, he can't do anything, can't hurt anyone anymore.
He's colorless now; maybe in time he'll become sketchlike and disappear. He died, and he should have stayed dead. He's only here now because of a desperate man's mistake.
Thus wrapped up in his own mind, he doesn't notice Xie Lian's hand on his shoulder. ]

Is that your true feelings, or the result of this loss of color...?
[What can he do to fix this? Is it really just a matter of time? Would persuasion help at all? Pyra had said.......
......The fact he can't rule out her suggestion would be concerning if it weren't for the fact there were bigger things to be concerned about. Xie Lian leans closer again, and after a moment's hesitation, places a gentle kiss on Wuxian's....forehead.]
You may not care now, but I do. I appreciate everything you've done in our time together, Wei Wuxian - and I hope you can wake enough to accept my thanks.

But after that chaste kiss, his eyes flick up and he looks at Xie Lian, the first sign of interest he's displayed thus far. Perhaps the slightest hint of color blooms on his forehead as well.
...
But after another moment, the color fades and Wei Wuxian's eyes go vacant again. He returns to staring at nothing at all. ]

There's a mix of both relief and frustration in the sigh he makes at this.]
...If this works, I..... [He what? He'll be happy it did? He hopes they never speak of it again? He'll be stuck worrying over what Pyra said about true love?
Regardless, after taking another (longer) moment to steal himself, he tries again. On the lips, this time.
Aaaaand then quickly hurries out of the room. He can check back later!! Later.]

He shuts his eyes, returning to oblivion. ]
