Catch-all/open quest log
WHO: Keigo and quest buddies
WHERE: Around the town
WHEN: Throughout the month
WHAT: Kiss a frog, fairy godmother, and power swap quests
WARNINGS: ???
Fairy GodKeigo
[Keigo isn't taking any chances on technicalities. A fairy godmother is a woman, and while he can't do anything about not physically being one, he does have a certain costume at his disposal. It was the ultimate in humiliation the week he was forced to wear it, but now he tells himself it's insurance. His only other vague impression of fairy godmothers is they have a magic wand. He's carrying a stick. It'll have to work.
That takes care of the fairy godmother look. As for fairy godmother actions, that's about as fuzzy as the magic wand idea, but he thinks it has something to do with giving people what they want.
His own request would be for another tin of the quest reward ointment that could have warmed him up if he hadn't already used it all up.
Regardless, Keigo, in dedicated questing mode, approaches people with a swish of his wand (he thinks it's a swish - it's more of a hand spasm) and asks:]
What can I do for you?
Keiro Keiro
[Keigo has a lot of strong contenders for "worst moment of his life." Most of them involve social rejection or life-threatening peril.
But now, this. This is the worst thing. He's a frog and- No, that's it. He's a frog. It's terrible. Full stop.
(Various approximations of Keigo as a frog.)]
Power Swap
[Keigo's "power" is more or less the ability to see ghosts, which isn't all that useful here. You can start off by tagging his offer on the forum or handwave that they set it up from there. He wouldn't agree to a trade if the powers sounded dangerous or frightening, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him? Until it does.

For now, a wish!
"Yes... How about, daifuku from your Japan? Your era is far beyond my experience - I would be happy to see what kind of daifuku you have."
no subject
He can already feel the stick buzzing with magic again.
"Daifuku, coming right up!" Picturing the treat in his mind, Keigo points the wand at the ground.
Just like Tonbokiri wanted, modern daifuku appear, modern packaging and all. Not quite like Tonbokiri wanted, they're made with ice cream.
And as an added magical treat, eating one will turn Tonbokiri's tongue the same color for an hour or two. If he questions Keigo on it, he will act like that's what they always do.
no subject
"Astonishing! Thank you very much."
Looking down at the result, though, he's not sure what to make of it.
That is, he can read the text on the package, and he sees the picture...
This is so exciting! Just as asked, a new kind! (He's trying to look calm, but his feelings are obvious.) Picking up the package he fumbles a moment before peeling the top open to reveal the nine little white mounds. And oddly-
"It's very cold." And without further hesitation he pops one in his mouth.
!!! It's so sweet, and creamy, but the mochi is cold and firm-!
"What kind of daifuku is it? Do you know?"
no subject
When Tonbokiri peels back the film, they look normal.
Tonbokiri is eating one like it's normal, if a little surprising for him.
They're safe!
"It's yukimi daifuku. That's ice cream inside."
no subject
"Ice cream?!" That revelation is also met with surprise, and he appreciates what he is tasting even more. "Ice cream... doesn't it melt quickly? How do they wrap the mochi around it? It's so delicious..."
About to reach for a second one, Tonbokiri pauses and politely holds out the box.
"Would you like one, Asano-dono?"
no subject
If he really thought about it, Keigo would have to admit it feels rude to take someone's wish from them, but treats like this are rare enough that there's little chance of him saying no. Besides, hasn't the past month been rough and dragon-filled? He's earned it!
"I can't say no to that!" Keigo grabs one and takes a small bite, trying to savor it. "Thanks!"
no subject
Sharing certainly makes it better, somehow!
He's trying to savour them, but he also know that ice cream melts. How should he pace himself? Well, it's cold out, so he probably doesn't have to rush too hard.
"You are most welcome. Thank you for granting my wish! This was not the kind of daifuku I was expecting, but it is absolutely delicious. I would say you are a success as a fairy godmother. Will you be off to grant more wishes? Is there anything I can do for you in return before you go?"
no subject
"The thing I want the most right now is a way to warm up instantly," Keigo admits with a small laugh. In hindsight, eating ice cream wasn't the best choice in regards to this problem. If only his wand worked on his own wishes. "But I doubt you can do anything about that."
no subject
"I'm afraid I can't. Not instantly, anyway. But... a fairy godmother's wish might. I don't have a dress, yet I could still give it a try?"
There's a tree from which he can pluck a branch...
no subject
Keigo feels a deep division in his heart. He has a personal investment in finding out the dress is required and he didn't wear it for nothing. He also wants to be warm.
no subject
"A way to warm up instantly..." He has no particular image in mind, but he earnestly hopes that something good will come of it as he waves the stick-- wand.
With a sad plop, something small, rectangular, and off-white falls to the ground between them.
"What is it?" Tonbokiri asks, bending down to look at the unremarkable thing. "I'm sorry. Perhaps I do need a dress to make the magic better."
(Keigo, however, will certainly recognize it as a heat pack. It's unwrapped though, and will only be warm for about three minutes. Enjoy your warmth, albeit shortlived.)
no subject
"But you did it! This is a thing that lets you warm up instantly." It just does it on a smaller scale than he had been hoping for. He places the pack against the back of Tonbokiri's hand so he can feel the warmth before cradling his own hands around it. (Any place he thinks about sticking it would be awkward with an audience.)
no subject
"Splendid. Although small, I am glad that it fulfilled your wish." Tonbokiri is beaming with quiet satisfaction at this quest fulfilled.
"I wish you even more success in your future wish-granting attempts." With his hands full of spear, wand, and the box with a few ice cream daifuku left, he can only nod his head at the boy in encouragement.
no subject
"If you keep doing it, you'll probably get better each time, too." Tonbokiri should really look into getting a dress, though.
no subject
Although unrelated, Tonbokiri does now remember something that he meant to ask the boy about next they met.
"Ah, if I may, one last thing before I take my leave of you, Asano-dono. I wanted to ask about what you have done with the dragon you hatched."
no subject
"When it got a little bigger, we moved it to a cave some of the people who came to help out when it hatched knew about."
"Maribelle thinks it can be trained." His expression says he does not agree with this assessment. "If she can find a chain to hold it, I'm supposed to help her."
"I'm supposed to be confident about it, but she's not the one that's been around it all the time. Little Keigo is a wild dragon!"
no subject
If anyone can train a wild dragon, it would be Maribelle-dono, but deep down he agrees with Asano's expression and words. The chance of success would be small, indeed.
"I see. Thank you for telling me about it. And, my offer still stands, any time you think it necessary. This spear is ever at your service."
He means both himself, and his literal spear.
no subject
"I don't think he's at spear level, but don't worry. I know better than to put myself in danger." Whine-worthy bites and scratches aside. "I'll call you if we need your help."
no subject
He nods, somewhat surprised to recognize the name. "Ah, the one who hosted the New Year's party." Clearly he should have spent more time with his host.
What is 'spear level'? Although Tonbokiri still worries, he does feel that Asano-dono is indeed very conscious of not putting himself, and the town, into too much danger.
So he nods. "Good." And with that matter aside, the atmosphere around him lightens again.
"Then, I shall take my leave of you, Asano-dono. May you continue to grant wishes successfully."
no subject
"Thanks. I'll see you later."
He walks a few steps and then turns back. "And hopefully not because I have to call you for a dragon emergency!"
Should Tonbokiri's tongue still have been so white while he said goodbye? No, it's nothing to worry about.
