t's very, very cold. It's cold enough that you'll see your breath fog in the air before you, that goosebumps appear on your arms and legs and a chill goes up your spine. You're inside, in a huge palace with sweeping arches and rooms, but it's no real shelter from the cold -- it's just as cold inside as out.
There's a throne room, a kitchen, various rooms and even a dungeon to be explored -- and outside, a frigid, frozen garden, a lake that's naturally frozen over, and miles, and miles of snow as far as the eye can see.
But be careful while you explore. The snowflake soldiers are naturally dangerous, but even more dangerous than that...there's that creeping sensation of numbness going up your arm, a pang through your chest, and the slow, slow freezing from the inside out.
Try not to leave any of your friends behind, okay? Even if they might look a bit too uncannily like some of the statues hanging around for decoration when they're frozen over.

[What could be different? Mirror shards...
Akira's eyes widen.]
You broke your mirror.
[He broke his mirror, and Akira didn't. He'd had a bad feeling that breaking the mirrors would result in some kind of punishment. He remembers now, Lupin saying he felt cold sometimes, others complaining of the same, Akechi included.]
You broke your mirror, and I didn't That has to be the difference.

... Of course. Provided everyone else who's been affected also broke their own mirrors, it would match the original story fairly closely.
[ Not just the loss of emotion and only finding beauty in the snow, either; in hindsight, those cold flashes he had been experiencing for the past while, the kind that felt like death itself as his body was freezing over... His heart, too. Yes, it makes a lot of sense now-- they are no strangers to Mr. White's morals and punishment over not following his unspoken rules.
And yet-- ]
While I can't say the experience was pleasant, I don't regret doing it, either.
[ Those mirrors caused them enough trouble as it was. ]

Maybe you don't, but you had me freaked out for a minute there.
[He understands why Akechi feels that way, of course. He remembers how dangerously close they came to falling apart that time. And the curse has been broken, so no harm, right?
But if it hadn't... well, he doesn't want to think about that.]
no subject
I had faith you would find a way to break the curse. In true fairytale fashion, you even--
[ Even healed him with True Love's Kiss, though Akechi thankfully catches himself before that slip of the tongue could compromise the state of their relationship. It would probably be too careless to be throwing that word around so soon, and this would be a terrible time and place for that kind of first, anyway.
(But if this is the kind of message the town is trying to relay? He finds it that, for once, maybe he doesn't mind playing along with its whimsies.) ]
... well, you even played the role of Prince Charming, I suppose. I wonder if we should switch outfits, haha...!
[ (He's still going to resort to a joke to hopefully void any lingering awkwardness that might have slipped through the cracks of his near blunder, though.) ]
no subject
(And if he catches that implication, he doesn't mention it. That would be too much, much too soon.)]
But in the story, it's not Prince Charming that saves the boy.
[Just his friend, doing her best for him. That's also true love, though, no bones about it. Maybe a truer love than that of a roving prince.]
...I'd be curious to see how I look in your suit, though. [For science!]
no subject
But, that's a train of thought that's better left aside for now. Instead, Akechi pulls himself closer, arms loosely draped over Akira's shoulders as he leans in to whisper: ]
Well, if it's getting into my princely pants that you want, I'm sure that could be arranged.
[ You know, as in his Crow suit, of course. There's nothing ambiguous about that whatsoever. ]
But, I'm afraid that will have to wait until we find somewhere warmer. Right now, we should be adding layers, not taking them off.
[Purely for the sake of clothes swapping science!! ]

Akira definitely seems intrigued by that offer, but... right. It's cold, and Akechi just nearly froze to death. Scary.
So he reaches up, gives Akechi's arms a rub, and then slips his hands down to take Akechi's, leaning away from him.]
Yeah. We can talk more once you're warmed up.
[He wants to say something about there being lots of ways to get warm, but... he'll let it go for now.]
no subject
I have this. [ He offers a one-shouldered shrug, motioning towards the blanket he still had draped over himself. ] I was thinking we could share it, since I doubt you're exactly warm, either.
[ And maybe this time Akira will actually get the hint. ]
no subject
Sure. But we should move somewhere else.
[The knights are still patrolling, after all. It would be something of a bummer if their cuddling was interrupted by something trying to kill them.]
That room I was in wasn't too bad.
[So he'll start to lead Akechi back that way, still holding his hands.]
no subject
Don't tell me you're concerned I can't take on the castle knights, are you? I may be cold, but I can still use my powers.
[ Still, he goes along with Akira's suggestion easily enough, keeping their hands together regardless of how awkward it might be to walk like this. And speaking of powers-- ]
In fact, I might make an exception just this once and allow you to use your Personas for a menial task...
[ Like keeping them warm, maybe? ]
no subject
[You'd think saving his life would make Akechi a little less contrary, but no such luck it seems.]
But thanks for the permission.
[He's already used his Personas like that more than once around here, and has absolutely no qualms about doing so again. Desperate times, and all that.]
I'll make it cozy for us.
