t's very, very cold. It's cold enough that you'll see your breath fog in the air before you, that goosebumps appear on your arms and legs and a chill goes up your spine. You're inside, in a huge palace with sweeping arches and rooms, but it's no real shelter from the cold -- it's just as cold inside as out.
There's a throne room, a kitchen, various rooms and even a dungeon to be explored -- and outside, a frigid, frozen garden, a lake that's naturally frozen over, and miles, and miles of snow as far as the eye can see.
But be careful while you explore. The snowflake soldiers are naturally dangerous, but even more dangerous than that...there's that creeping sensation of numbness going up your arm, a pang through your chest, and the slow, slow freezing from the inside out.
Try not to leave any of your friends behind, okay? Even if they might look a bit too uncannily like some of the statues hanging around for decoration when they're frozen over.

Then I want you to hold onto it.
[Softly, but warmly.]
And I won't apologize. Deal?
no subject
Deal.
[ She'll shift, moving over till she can lean against him. ]
... trolls are given to terrible nightmares. It's something that is simply inherent to our species. The dead don't need to sleep, so mostly I just ... don't. Ever.
[ Imagine, never being able to rest? ]
My planet never got this cold, anywhere, ever. I didn't think it would affect me as badly as it has, to be honest.

I understand.
[He leans back against her, too, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. It doesn't do much for their body heat, but it's worth a try at least for the comfort.]
This place...kind of sucks sometimes, huh?
[ELOQUENT.]
But... I can at least be here when you wake up, even if I can't stop the nightmares.

She trusts him, after all.
The way she smiles at him is touched and a bit sweet. ]
Yeah. It fucking blows, to be honest.
[ She settles against him. ] I'd rather just stay awake, but I appreciate the sentiment all the same. It is nice to know that at least there would be someone around I can trust.
[ Vriska tilts her head back, staring at the distant ceiling. ]
Not that I don't trust Okuyasu. He's a good guy. It's just ... [ he'll feel her shrug. ] You know.
[ Again she looks at him, thoughtful. ]
... if anything, I just wish there was something I could do for you in return. I feel like you're always helping me.

He couldn't feel more grateful.
And when she looks at him... it brings a smile to his face despite their circumstances.]
I think you really underestimate yourself, Vriska-chan...
[He shivers, but nonetheless his voice remains solid and peaceful.]
Even just talking to you like this helps me a lot. And being able to see you, and know that you're okay... I feel so much better right now.

If this is what helps you, [ she huffs, smiling crookedly, ] then I'd be pretty happy to never shut up.
[ ............................
he'll get what she's trying to say, probably. embarrassed, she gives her head another, quicker shake. ]
Still. I'll figure out a way to pay you back for real.

She's sweet... he knew that, always, but it's nice to see her accepting it a bit more every day.]
Yeah...?
Then I guess, if you're really set on this... I'll just say that I'm looking forward to it.
