While they're swirling, John immediately moves in and starts bashing them back and forth like so. It's not as bouncy as it would be with the pogo hammer, but the harpies are dealt several blows to the head as they drop like flies.

[At least they've killed multiple harpies so it's a little less of a problem. On the other hand, Dave will have to fly a bit further down the cliffs to find John who's sitting on his ass and glaring at the sky like it was its fault he zipped off into the ether.
