What: Squad bonding. It's a great time.

Everyone shut up already.

[Four of them... Even if Fushimi technically already lives with him, he doesn't want to drag so many people into his room, especially while Yuu is here. So, Guren has brought them each out to an area near the edge of the forest in Ruga. It's an area he's trained in plenty of times before, so there's a knocked over tree that can be used as a bench, and Guren is standing right in front of it, pointing at it demandingly. Sit!!]

You're all part of my squad, so that means I'm not going to let you embarrass me by being useless. We're going to learn how to work together. I've already got an idea of what all of you can do... [His eyes trail to the side and stop on Ryan, though.] Except you. But you can have a spot in this, too. I'll form our strategies as the leader.

[He places his hand on his hip.] Anyway, before I get into that, you're all going to introduce yourselves. Go.

[Kaoru goes to sit down at the tree-bench without even a word of complaint.]

Aren't we supposed to choose our leader? Why are you being such a tyrant, Guren-san?

[Okay, so she just has one complaint.

Back home, she had been with the same team since she was five, and most introductions after that were usually done by Minamoto.

And well, okay. So Fushimi isn't very talkative but that's fine. Some people are like that.]

I'm Kaoru Akashi! I'm in highschool and my dream is to be a housewife...I guess? My power is psychokinesis!

[Introductions... talking to strangers is worse than just shoving him into doing things, why this?

But he settles in easily enough, sitting right in front of the tree and leaning back against it to try to make himself a little less tall. Each of them gets a little smile and a nod in acknowledgement (he brightens a bit more at the mention of psychokinesis, that sounds cool), and when it's his own turn-]

I, uh. I'm Ryan Farrow, I'm a medium? Mostly I just deal with dead people and the supernatural in general-- but it feels like we're all that type in one way or another, right?

[Psychokinesis definitely counts, he's already talked to Guren, and while he doesn't really know what he's picking up from Fushimi, it's definitely there.

It'd probably help to mention the sense. He doesn't think to say so.]

[Kaoru and Ryan get passing grades! He nods to each of them as they talk, whereas Fushimi got a squinting glare, but now that it's all over, Guren gets that cocky look on his face that he sometimes does, jabbing his thumb at Fushimi and his loner tree.]

That outlier over there is Saruhiko Fushimi. He's a pessimist who thinks he's allergic to friendship when it's really all he needs, and he's a total virgin, so be nice to him.

[There's a pause just long enough for them all to process that, and then he's dropping his hand and finishing his own introduction.]

You all know me already, but to make it fair, I'm Guren Ichinose. Lt. Colonel of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army back home, and leader of the defense force here. Now, since I brought you all out here to get to know each other, I'm going to give you a choice. Who wants to go into the forest?

[ Fushimi clicks his tongue in irritation, but doesn't actively object to anything Guren says about him. Technically, all of it is true, but you still shouldn't say it, Guren! ]

I don't care. [ He will if they need to go into the forest for whatever reason, or he won't, if they don't; his high-strung and slightly neurotic personality sure is tempered by his complete inability to give a fuck.

Fushimi lets a moment drag out, long and quiet, before he finally pushes off the tree and stands up properly. ]

I can burn things or freeze them, and I'm good with knives, but I'm not bothering to save anyone if you get in trouble by being stupid.

[ This is literally "two truths and a lie" and the last one is a lie. He will save you even if you are stupid. He's a morosexual. ]

[She's not...entirely sure how she feels about being classified as 'supernatural' just because she prefers to think of herself as human, but well...different worlds, right? So she looks uncomfortable with it for a moment before she just shrugs it off.]

So our team is a virgin, a glasses character, a highschool girl, and a tyrant?

[Look, Guren, if you choose not to answer she can choose to interpret your silence as agreeing that you're a tyrant. And naturally, she focuses on all the things that Aren't Actually Important.]

Is this some sort of training camp? [After everything, she should probably say no to going into the forest but. Well. She's been dealing with dangerous situations since she was ten. It affects one's sense of danger.] I'm in, I guess. [It's not like she has anything else to do.]

-just because it's true doesn't mean you guys should say it...

[All of these callouts... but being the token glasses character isn't as bad? There are worse fates, probably.

The talk about going into the forest, though, definitely catches his attention, and he only looks more pleased as the others at least don't say no to it.]

If you're all fine with it, then-- yeah, let's go check it out. I can probably tell if anything unnatural gets too close?

[Ryan don't sound so hopeful about that.]

There's no way you're just "a highschool girl." At least call yourself a pervert.

[Get it CORRECT, she's not the normal one here! No one is, really, but Guren's already turning to glance at Ryan's comment on these callouts. He smirks, tilting his head slightly.]

Either that, or you'll be dead before you get the chance. [Stop it Guren.] Then, we can head in. But the first thing we need to decide as a squad is a basic formation or two to fall to in times of danger.

[He glances to Fushimi.]

Did you ever learn any? [He doesn't expect Ryan or Kaoru to know anything, but he's curious if Fushimi might.]

I learned some two-man formations. [ Which is really the most teamwork anyone can expect out of Fushimi on a good day. He shrugs a shoulder up, slightly unconcerned about it -- it is what it is, he supposes.

Granted, all his official knowledge of two-man formations he never actually tested, and the kinds of things that Yata did with him were sort of... makeshift. ]

In bigger groups, I was a support role. [ Which is kind of funny, given his personality is anything but supportive, but in a world that actually makes sense (so, not this one), he's absolutely aces at all the computer stuff that no one else wants to deal with. ]

[HOW DARE YOU CALL HER A PERVERT??]

I'm not a pervert! Apologize to my maiden heart! And don't be a jerk to the new guy.

[There needs to be another positivity prom so she can spite vote him into wearing a crown again.

She...really shouldn't say anything. Because she hadn't even told Guren about her job in the government. It's not like she didn't want to tell him, it just never came up. Yet. She raises her hand.]

I was usually the one to take point...since I can make barriers and stuff.

He's already done that, it's fine.

But that makes one who's used to taking point [a nod to Kaoru there,] two for support [a gesture towards Fushimi and himself,] and- actually, probably two who're the point type, huh?

[That comes with a glance to Guren-- yeah, considering he appointed himself leader, Ryan does not get a support vibe from him.]

It's not the same at all, I know, but I've at least played a lot of team strategy games? So I can probably learn.

There's no maiden hearts here.

[That's his only comment to Kaoru!! But then he's glancing between them all and ending on Ryan with a nod, gesturing with his hand.]

Well... that'll have to do. I'm best suited for close range. I've got the most strength out of all of us, and I'm fastest, too. There's only four of us, but...

I'll lead. [He's making the formation with his hands in the air, for reference!!] Kaoru and Fushimi, you two can be direct support roles. That means you'll work together a lot and cover me. Ryan, you've got no real combat strength, so that means you need to stay out of the way, but in the safety zone. For now, that'll be directly behind me and between the other two.

In certain other cases, you might be able to lead with me, like if we're looking for something on a quest. But for this, we're just going to take a look around. It's more defensive. Does that work for everyone?

[I hate how he's like this shut up Guren let's just go]

[ Fushimi eyes Kaoru a little warily, because the idea of "working together" with other living, breathing human beings is basically something he never wants to do... but then he clicks his tongue and shrugs up a shoulder, which is basically the closest you're going to get to agreement from him. ]

Whatever. [ Ah, he sounds like a jrpg protagonist, doesn't he. He adjusts his glasses, but he looks like he's at least paying some degree of attention, at any rate. ]

We'll follow your lead, chuusa. [ It's like putting faith in Guren. Very dry faith, but you know, faith all the same. ]

[She will get Guren back for that comment. ONE DAY.

Right now, she just pouts. And wonders if she was wrong to call Ryan the glasses character...it seems there's a chance he may be an M.

Other than that though, the arrangement suited her just fine. She took point because Aoi's spatial sense made her uniquely suited to taking the rear and Kaoru could weather a blow to the head better than Aoi can because of how delicate her abilities were. And Shiho's powers were less combat oriented.

And as much as she may make fun of him for it, she was used to having a field commander. And she was used to working in a team.]

Sounds fine to me too!

No complaints here either.

[He's already ready to go, adjusting the bag slung over his shoulder with a excited little grin-- sure, he thinks it'll be interesting to see more of the area in general, but it's also new to be doing this sort of thing with a group (or to be part of one at all, really.)

Maybe a little nervewracking too, considering he's not used to it, but eagerness wins out; he'll just have to try not to embarrass himself too much, probably.]

I'll-- try to help keep an eye out, at least.

Great. Then all of you, stick with me, and don't break formation unless I order it.

[Test number one! But with a wave, he starts off right for the forest, just like that! It's time for an adventure. Just an adventure deep enough for some mutated animals, but an adventure all the same.

He's pointedly quiet, mostly because he's hoping they'll talk with each other instead of him.]

[ Fushimi: follows. That's it. That's the whole summary of what he does, with a brief sort of brush of his fingers along the sleeve of his coat (he's doublechecking to make sure he has all his knives, which he does), and in complete silence.

How do you talk to other human beings? Trick question, you don't. ]
