The heart's dearest solace will smile on me there. No more from the cottage again will I roam, Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. | |
Welcome to Awash's eighth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. |

She almost teases him for not having a favorite subject, since that's definitely something she doesn't understand, but as they get to the classroom, it's forgotten in the face of looking at the room. She walks inside to take in the surroundings. ]
Oh, I can't even guess what Japanese literature is like. There weren't exactly many books about the East in my library...
[ Because Comstock is a big ol' racist so don't ask... She takes a seat in one of the desks and frowns lightly at the fact that it's not exactly... comfortable... But before he asks his question, she shoots one back to him. ]
Where would you like to go? I dream of traveling all the time, so I can understand that. Well, mostly. [ She laughs ] I don't think I would be going with a girlfriend.
[ She sits back a little in her chair as if she's pretending to be a student while Keigo is lost in his imagination, so she doesn't mind it. His question makes her consider it for a moment, then she nods. ]
Mostly, I think. There's a lot I don't know, but if there was one thing I had in the tower, it was free time. I doubt I know it as well as someone that was actually taught, but science, mathematics, language—I studied it all. And anything to do with the arts, I really practiced. It's easier to spend time painting than something like memorizing anatomy.

Or do you think a ski vacation would be better?
[While he considers his vacation options and finds out more about her education, Keigo walks down the rows checking the space under the desks, but they're mostly empty. With no students in the classroom, it seems like this strange world has mirrored a time when those students would have their possessions with him. There are always a few things left behind at the end of the day, though, and he finally finds a book tucked at the very back of a desk. He can almost remember a time he left this same book behind and got in trouble for not finishing his homework. He sets it on Elizabeth's desk.]
Here's one of our textbooks if you want to look at it. I can take you to the library, too.
That's so much more fun than studying!
[Maybe she's not a complete bookworm after all.
He considers, and for once rejects, asking her some in-universe equivalent of "Paint me like one of your French girls?" It's because he's sure she's never seen the movie, not because he had the good sense not to say something like that to a girl.]
You must be good if you practiced that much. You should paint pictures to cover up all the gray.

I have no idea. I've never been to a beach or the mountains, so I think I'd like both?
[ They'd both be completely new for her, but she thinks she'd probably pick skiing if she had to. Skiing makes her think of charming stories of the Swiss Alps, which are far more common than stories of lounging on beaches. But going somewhere warm and tropical is definitely appealing too...
She's trying to decide which of the two she's actually prefer when the book is set down, and of course that train of thought is immediately derailed. Elizabeth makes a light sound of interested surprise, then opens the book to flip through it. She won't bore him by nosing through it while he's here (there's too much else to see!), but she definitely is engrossed by looking through it for a moment until she nods at his suggestion. ]
Oh, a library- Yes, I'd love to see it! I think that's the one thing I actually miss from my tower.
[ Everything else can get wrecked, and, uh. Did. She stands up, though she definitely picks the book up with her. She's likely going to "borrow" one of the books, so she'll be certain to have a selection. ]
I wish I could. A mural would be—Well, I think it'd be beautiful in the town. But unfortunately, there's still so much that's gray. I wouldn't mind making my own pigments and paints, but I haven't really looked into things enough to really look into what I could make the paints out of. Other than eggs, anyways.
