t's a calm, quiet, peaceful morning. It's still dark, the birds are still not even singing... and creatures, slinking and furtive, sneak into Town to drag friends, loved ones, and enemies alike away.
Whether you're one who's been dragged deeply into the woods, or one who's been left behind...
Surely you can't let this be?
After all, you may never see them again if you allow them to stay out in the woods, frozen horribly into just another tree in the woods. Good luck!

But how can he sneak him through their small town? Keigo tries to channel every ninja movie he's every seen.
"Stay here. I'll go case the joint."
Wrong type of movie.
The general idea is the same, though, and Keigo steps free of the trees, turning his head back and forth constantly to watch for anyone coming their way. So far, so good.
He stops behind a house that shields him from the road, peers around the corner, then turns back and waves Tonbokiri towards his hiding space.

He nods at the signal. Although he moves more slowly than most of the other swords, he is still in a metaphysical body, so it takes only a moment for Tonbokiri to sprint to Asano's side. Once there, he nods again in approval. For one so inexperienced in such matters, Asano-dono is doing well.

Keigo darts out from behind the house, and heads for a thick set of bushes that look like they can shield them next.
There's someone coming! He veers off his path and leans against the nearest wall, crossing his arms and tapping his foot, the very picture of...not so much nonchalance as someone trying to appear nonchalant but really they're freaking out.
It's only someone he recognizes vaguely from seeing around, not someone he really knows, so they pass by with little more than a nod and a confused look. Once they're gone, he hurries back to Tonbokiri.
"That was close! Let's go!" To the bushes!

He has some doubt about the bushes being a good hiding place, but he follows Asano's lead. He carefully lays his spear (still bare-bladed, for the sheath is at home) on the ground and crouches as deeply into the bush as possible.
"Should someone come who can sense the presence of others, this shall be somewhat conspicuous." Possible glimpses of the spear or him through the leaves aside. "Continue on quickly, Asano-dono."

"Right! I'm on it!"
He leads Tonbokiri through a few more rounds of moving from hiding place to hiding place. While it's not a good thing, it is helpful that so many are still out in the woods, leaving their path clear beyond that first encounter with a passerby. It's all going so well until he sets out to find another bush or outcropping of wall or cottage turned just the right way to shield them and walks and keeps walking...
He looks less sure of himself than he has on this whole mission when he returns.
"The next place you can hide is way up there. Do you think you can make it?"
no subject
It is slightly worrisome on this end as well, when Asano is gone for so long, and wearing that expression when he returns.
He nods confidently. "I can certainly make it there. The only matter is if someone comes. Keep watch and distract whomever comes near."
And without hesitation he starts sprinting up the road.

OK, his experience with naked running men is zero, but it seems like it would slow someone down!
Keigo does his job, regardless of any stray thoughts, staying back and remaining on the lookout for anyone walking by who might catch Tonbokiri. He's not sure what he's going to do to distract them if they do show up, but he'll deal with that when it happens. Yelling always works for him when he's trying to get attention.
Luck - and a largely deserted town - remain on their side and Keigo meets up with Tonbokiri at the hiding spot.
"Do you think you can make the run for your house from here? I can go ahead and make sure Maribelle isn't there!"
no subject
He is relieved, for everyone's sake, when the way remains clear.
"The final obstacle." This is a serious mission, and it shows in his expression. "Take no chances, Asano-dono. Check every room." He nods in the direction of the house. "I shall keep watch that no one enters in the meantime."
no subject
It's a very specific mood.
At the house, he searches every single room, just like he was told. There's no sign of Maribelle or of anyone else dropping by for a visit. Tonbokiri is free to return home and get some clothes.
It's a much more cheerful Keigo that returns to report on his findings.
"She's not inside. You're safe!"
I'm distressed that I missed the notif for this for a week. Sorry! ;A; let's wrap this up...
Tonbokiri can expect good news just from how Asano is carrying himself as he returns, and he smiles broadly at the confirmation.
"My deepest thanks, Asano-dono. I shall go at once." There is no point in having further conversation here when his clothing is mere meters away.
But as he starts moving towards the house at a light jog, he motions Asano to follow.
"If you have time, please allow me to further express my gratitude. Would you join me for a drink?" (He means 'of tea', but after this day he might do with something a bit stronger tonight.)
Whoops! I assumed you were busy with back-to-school stuff. But yeah, they're just about done here.
"I could use something to drink after all that!" Even if it's just tea. Becoming a tree and then walking all around the woods and then ninjaing is dehydrating work. A drink would hit the spot.
Hopefully after Tonbokiri puts on some pants.
There was for sure some of that too. ;;
Yes, after he is dressed.
Garbed in his proper dark yukata, he formally serves his comrade, and himself, a cup of macha. Yet other than that small bit of ceremony, he makes light conversation. The one who saved him twice over today deserves the best he can give.
