[OPEN]
WHO: Rin, Open!
WHERE: Front of Chroma Cafe, Bluo
WHEN: Towards the end of the month
WHAT: [Quest 63] Rin wants to pretty up the outside of the cafe a bit
WARNINGS: NA
[Rin had said earlier in the month, during his announcement that Kohaku had left Chroma, that he wanted to at least attempt to get some flowers planted and clean up the outside of the cafe to look a little nicer. A simple enough task, right?
Except it was the very thing he had talked about in that forum post that was keeping him from doing much of anything, really. It still weighed heavily on him, that she had been taken away so suddenly and so soon after they had finally worked things out. He felt a little better each day, but he was still dragging to get anything beyond basic cafe tasks done.
Shiro taking over for a day had also helped, enough that he was actually outside now with the found tools needed to plant the flowers he brought over, but that was as far as he'd gotten.
He was just staring at them, the pale violet petals moving softly in the warm summer breeze. It wasn't that he didn't know what to do (he was best friends with the resident True Cross gardner after all), but that his mind couldn't seem to snap out of it long enough to do anything.
But hey, at least he's sulking outside for once?]

Ah, hello! [ She does a little curtsey while Mukou waves a paw. ] I am Kasen and this is Mukou. Might this be the... Chroma Cafe?
no subject
Yeah, this is the cafe. Sorry, I was tryin' to get some work done out here while it was slow.
no subject
Excuse me for asking, but are you okay? Are you feeling unwell?
sorry for the delay!
So is getting asked to pet it.
That happens a lot here.
As for how he's doing...]
Ah. Still that obvious, huh?
[He laughs bitterly, looking back at the flower and touching one of the pale violet petals gently.]
Just... thinkin' about people who aren't here anymore.
no worries!!
She smooths out her skirt and crouches down to pick up one of the gardening tools. She could offer platitudes, but she's just met him and it would just sound empty. She doesn't like the sad expression on his face, though, and wracks her brain for a way to cheer him up, even just a little bit. ]
We have to give ourselves some time to be sad. Especially for something as sad as saying good bye to a loved one.
[ She gestures towards the flowers. ]
Do you need some help? I'm sure whoever you were originally planning to plant these with will be happy if they knew these flowers are brightening up your cafe now.
no subject
Though he has a good reason for it this time.
He does perk up a little at the offer of help, though.]
Sure. I only kinda know what I'm doin' anyway.
no subject
[ As she gives him a reassuring smile, Mukou pokes her cheek and gives an indignant little squeak. ]
Oh! I'm sorry. The three of us.
[ She picks up a spade and stares at it for a bit, turning it around her in hands, before starting to dig up a little patch of dirt cautiously. ]

He has a companion of his own, but Ayame being a still-growing kitten is likely lazing somewhere in the house catching those much needed 20+ hours of sleep.
Rin watches her quietly, waiting for the hole to be dug to a seemingly good depth before carefully placing the flower in.]
Were you lookin' to get somethin' to eat at the cafe?
no subject
His question startles her out of her thoughts. ]
Oh! Yes, actually. I was wondering if... you sold any sweets, like... dango. I had two sticks on me when I arrived, but I've given them away. I kind of miss the taste.
[ More like she REALLY misses the taste.
Meanwhile, Mukou has leapt off her shoulder, heading to the patch of dirt. Ignoring the gardening tools, he opts to use his paws to dig another hole for the next flower to go. ]
no subject
Rin pushes dirt back into place beneath the flowers, taking care not to bend or damage the stems and leaves.]
I haven't done any sweets recently, but I could. I'd have to see what the supply depots have.
[Sweets weren't his strongest skill, but he had gotten better at them in the past couple of years.]
I haven't had dango in ages. Who'd you give 'em to?
no subject
Thank you, but if it isn't possible, don't trouble yourself on my behalf. I'd gladly eat whatever you may prepare. And I gave them to a lovely lady in blue named Saber. She helped out both Mukou and I when we first arrived in town.
no subject
Mm. Don't think I know Saber, but that was nice of you. Food ain't as hard to come by anymore, so I'll see what I can find later. For now I've got some noodles, mushrooms and chicken, if you get hungry later.
no subject
What are you doing?
no subject
Poor city boy.
The steps do sort of get his attention as his tail actively twitches, but it's not until Berkut speaks that Rin finally perks up and looks to who is addressing him.
Not a familiar face, but that likely only means that they've simply never met before now.]
... plantin' flowers.
no subject
For the quest, I presume? Then you had better do more than stare at them.
no subject
I'm workin' on it.
[Don't rush him! He is sad boy.]
no subject
You. Is that a tail?
no subject
[Geez. This guy...]
... yeah. It's a tail. What of it?
no subject
The rest of you looks human. What are you?
[He doesn't mean to cause offense, not really. But his words are perhaps a touch too direct.]
no subject
... half demon.
[He's snarling just enough to show one of his fangs.
But it doesn't last long. He's just too damn tired. Tired of Chroma, tired of people. He doesn't want to go back to being fully antisocial (and there are those who wouldn't let him anyway) but he's not really willing to deal with anyone's bullshit.
He turns back to the flowers, reaching for the slightly rusted spade.]
no subject
Half demon?]
I've seen Terrors with more bite than you.
[He says this lightly like he's made an observation of the weather, observing Rin the while. The other half is, presumably, human. Still, how odd it is to see an alleged demon tend to flowers.]
no subject
Really?
Is this the hill you want to die on, Berkut? Is it?]
If you want me to bite you, you just gotta ask.
[Tail twitching again, angry cat-like.]
You done judgin' me for no fuckin' reason or do I gotta go inside until you leave?
no subject
Judging you? You are mistaken. I was only stating an observation, considering you're the first I've met here with demon blood coursing through your veins. I must say, it's not entirely what I would have imagined.
no subject
[Rin garners plenty of favorable opinions with people in Chroma. He doesn't have to befriend everyone, right?]
Not that it's any of your damn business, but I was raised human for most of my life. And for the record, you sound like you're judgin'!
no subject
Take it how you will. I know what my intentions are meant to be.
no subject
[Somewhere Shen is likely having a serious sense of impending doom.]
