i. early riser.
[ After leaving Keith in bed with a kiss (and a note telling him to come look for Shiro's at Rin's cafe later) he gets to the Bluo house that makes up the shop and lets himself in just after sunrise, a bag of goodies slung over a shoulder. With a makeshift apron wrapped around his hips and the sleeve of his henley rolled up, Shiro washes his hands and starts making lilac boar-meat sandwiches to add to the food on offer, spruced up with grated cheese and slices of apple. His mini portable grill is set up with a slow-burning fire from some of the logs out back so that people can have homemade toasties if they prefer, and once his contribution to the cafe is well underway he starts brewing coffee for the first customers of the day, pleasantly soothed by the ease of the job. It's a long way from commanding Atlas or being a Paladin, both of which he misses dearly, but that's not necessarily a bad thing when he's already taking a break while in Chroma. ]
Good morning! [ His smile is warm for the breakfast crowd. ] What can I get for you today?
ii. lunchtime.
[ The morning was a nice way to ease into his temporary role of cafe proprietor but it's lunch-time when things start speeding up. He's glad he brought salmon to replace the boar meat, grilling the fish and glazing it with wild honey (served with optional grilled mushrooms!) so that patrons can eat heartily and have a delicious meal if they missed the most important one of the day. Shiro is a lot busier as he hurries about but he always has a smile for new faces, even when sweat starts to bead on his brow. ]
iii. evening.
[ When it starts getting toward golden hour and the crowd disperses (Shiro's stash of food all but gone save for some chunky meaty sandwiches he leaves in the back especially for Rin tomorrow) he flops in one of the larger armchairs and sips at a cup of tea, a sense of accomplishment in his tired limbs. It's been a fun day, completely outside his usual wheelhouse, and he thinks Hunk would be proud of his inventiveness in the kitchen. If anyone drops in for a last minute snack or drink he will rise from his seat and amiably help them out. ]

He even did the laundry, prepping the dishes for the evening and keeping their home neat and cosy. the items that Shiro had previously brought back from Ruga had been carefully stored, and it's after he's run his own errands and tidied their home that he goes to find Shiro.
It's evening now, and Keith sets forth for Shiro's workplace with a small wrapped packet of chicken dinner in hand, fully intending to walk Shiro home after, too, especially after such a fulfilling day.
He knocks, smiling. ]
Closed for the day?
no subject
Keith! Maybe in a few minutes, yeah. [ The new angles to their relationship are lovely and Shiro wastes no time slinging his arm around Keith as he leans in for a peck on the lips, welcoming him inside. A metal fingertip taps the packet curiously. ] Is this for me?
no subject
He hands him the wrapped packet, taking his other hand to guide him towards the counter. ]
Yeah, I figured you haven't eaten. You haven't, right?
no subject
Help yourself if you'e hungry too, I made the sandwiches and toasties.
no subject
Shiro really does have a damn fine ass. He's plucking a toastie for himself, commenting: ]
Skin and bones, you? We definitely can't have that. What am I gonna hold at night?
no subject
[ Flashing a smirk over a shoulder as he fixes his dinner, he meets Keith across the counter and leans a hip against it, tucking into his boyfriend-approved dinner. It tastes better because Keith made it, Shiro's sure; this honeymoon stage may just last forever, he's fine with it.
The moan choked behind his food is usually confined to their boat. ]
Keith, you're my hero. This is so good, even Hunk couldn't do better.
no subject
[ Keith's dark eyes gleam with mischief and amusement, and he practically perks when he hears that moan -- he might only have heard it a few times, but those times have been under very specific, erotic conditions.
He's leaning forward, fully leaning into the whole honeymoon phase because this is the happiest he's ever been, and he never wants it to end. ]
C'mere, you flatterer. You shouldn't be making those noises in public.
no subject
Semi-public. [ Is that a glint in his eye? Hm. Couldn't be from such an upstanding man like Shiro, the type to help out a stranger and randomly run a cafe for a day. ] We're the only ones here now.
no subject
He's nuzzling back against him, sliding an arm around his waist with a soft grunt, gently bumping his hip with his. ]
Eat up, you. [ He jokes, enjoying the attention all the same. ] Tell me about your day.

i (this time from the right account, orz)
Because Kaoru, who is not an early riser at all, is still roused from sleep by the smell of something good. Without opening her eyes, she peels herself out of bed and follows the smell. But precisely because she's not an early riser she's actually still half-asleep as she makes her way to where she can smell the food. It might not even be all that early. Because for this girl any time before noon is early.
She's rubbing at her eyes, which are still closed as she comes into the kitchen. Also she's floating about two feet off the ground. If not stopped, she'll slowly bump into Shiro's back (it's what happens when a person doesn't even bother waking up and opening their eyes) before grabbing sleepily at the back of his shirt.]
Riiiiiin, I'm hungry. Feed meeeee.
[She even sounds half asleep. with a few of her word blurring together a little.]

Good morning. You're one of Rin's friends, I take it?
[ Definitely didn't mention this person, nope. ]
no subject
Her thoughts are a bit slow but that's definitely not Rin's voice.
She opens her eyes a little, squinting up at the person in front of her.
She stares for a second and...yeah. Definitely not Rin.
She knows she has a sleep walking problem but so far it's never been the sort where she ended up in someone else's house. So the only conclusion she can come to is...]
Are you a burglar?
[Then she's rubbing at her eyes again, though her other hand is still very much holding onto his shirt.]
no subject
If I was I'd be doing a really bad job of it, getting caught bringing snacks into the house instead of stealing them. [ With a nod to the counters lined in sandwiches, prep for the morning. ] My name is Shiro, I'm covering for Rin today so he can have some time off. It's nice to meet you.
[ Prompting her to give a name with a patient look. ]
no subject
It could be all part of your plan to get us to lower our guards!
[But even as she says that she lets go of his shirt so she can float herself higher, placing a hand on his shoulder as looks over him to see the food. Why didn't she just look around him...? Habit, really.]
I'm Kaoru! Kaoru Akashi. It's nice to meet you!
no subject
[ Kind of reminds him of floating in space, the way she moves. ]
You want some toasties for breakfast, Kaoru? They're cheesy pork.
no subject
[Her hair's also moving like it's blowing in an invisible shoujo breeze so that's pretty much what it looks like, yes.
She look away from the food, eyes shining.] Yes! And one of everything else too! [...look, don't judge her, her metabolism has been all wonky since she got into highschool.]
no subject
Make sure you have a drink to go with it, you don't want to get indigestion at the start of the day.
[ He fetches a few big toasties to put on the grill outside, not about to doubt the hunger of a floating teenage girl. ]
Do you usually eat in the cafe or upstairs?

It's not that he doesn't trust Shiro. He just met the guy but he seemed very level headed and trustworthy.
Rin is just very, very attached to the cafe. It is his pride and joy. He's put so much work in to it that he even risked his own life once to keep it from getting burned down by dragons.
Even a fairly deep depression couldn't keep him from wanting to make sure everything was going alright and that Shiro wasn't having too much trouble.
He walked in shortly after the last few stragglers left, rapping lightly on the doorframe as he entered.]
Hey.
no subject
[ Shiro perks up from cleaning behind the counter when he spots the other man, hand on a hip. ]
Did you have a nice day off?
no subject
[A half shrug. He didn't really do anything, which was a rare thing for him anymore. It was nice, but also somewhat boring and had him feeling restless.]
How'd things go here?
no subject
[ He's been doing his absolute best, in the circumstances. ]
no subject
[He perked up instantly at the mention of food just for him. He did enjoy cooking, obviously enough to run an entire cafe usually on his own for the past year and some months, but it had been ages since anyone had cooked for him.
It did remind him after a moment, though, why Shiro was here in the first place.]
Thanks for helpin' me out. I know its kinda dumb to get worked up over somethin' that's gonna happen no matter what any of us do...
no subject
It's okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes, Rin. What's important is knowing that it's alright to ask for help if you need a break, your friends would never want you to get sick with worry over anything. And, hey, now you know I'm here if you're ever caught short or have an emergency.
no subject
But that's a thought Rin keeps to himself.]
I'm not even really overwhelmed. Yeah I work a lot but it'd be borin' as hell if I didn't do somethin'.
[He can't really explain what he's feeling, outside of being upset about Kohaku leaving.]
