He gets to his feet, trying to look at least a little apologetic.]
Sorry... Maybe we can see more of the town? I could use the fresh air.

[ Although, there's nothing much to really see here besides more buildings and townhouses as she leads him to the streets. There appears to be all the usual amenities: a clothing boutique, a hair salon, a grocery store, but... still no people anywhere, despite how well preserved and clean everything is. She did tell him it was part of a memory, however.
Eventually they come to a small lake that's just at the edge of the town. The area seems to extend further back, almost as far as the eye can see into fields and then a forest. ] ......And that's about it. Like I said, there's not much here.
It's a lot more fun to just watch through Pyra's eyes when there's nothing to do.

I grew up in a little town like this. Only, it was by the sea, and on the hill, there was a big lighthouse instead of a tree.
[But it was quiet like this, peaceful, even. A world of difference to where he wound up being shipped off to Tokyo.]
no subject
Yeah?
[ By the sea.... Not a cloud-sea. An actual sea, like how the earth used to have. (And still technically does have.) ] Did you watch the ships roll in?
no subject
Sometimes. There were little fishing boats, but not so many big ships.
[He chooses another rock, throwing it again, but it doesn't quite reach as far as the first.] That's the place where I met Ryo, back when we were kids.
no subject
She can't help but smile as he talks of his past. ]
It sounds like a nice memory. [ Or, she assumes it must be, meeting a friend for the first time. ] I can't imagine how the two of you were kids.

He washed up from the sea one day. When I found him, he just looked so alone and lost... So I hugged him and told him everything would be okay.
[Ryo probably wouldn't appreciate Akira divulging his past, but -- he trusts Mythra, and Pyra by extension.] After that, we were best friends.
no subject
[ .... ] But... is that normal, in your world? For kids to wash up from the ocean?
no subject
No. Even now, we never figured it out. There wasn't a shipwreck, or any families who came looking for him. He couldn't even speak Japanese at first...
[Akira trails off, thinking about all the things he still doesn't know about Ryo.]
He doesn't really talk about it.
no subject
Akira still has Ryo, and they are both here, separated from their world and whatever is happening in it. Even if neither might remember when they should return to their world, they have that chance to spend time with each other. ] With the two of you here.... seems like now is as good as time as any to talk about everything the two of you couldn't talk about back home.
[ She throws her pebble, and it gets half way across the lake before sinking. ] Right?
no subject
[Akira will let Mythra win this round, because he gives up throwing rocks and flops down onto the grass, staring up at the sky. Absently, he touches the used sun pendant he still keeps around his neck. Everything at home happened so fast, and now they've both had a little time to process things and be here together, Ryo is still just the same.
Realising he's lost in thought, he looks over to Mythra.]
Sorry. I shouldn't throw all my problems on you, right after we just met.
no subject
[ And it's surprising for her to hear herself say that aloud. ] It kinda makes me feel like... [ A hum escapes her, as if she's searching for the right word. ] Like, I really have been meeting with you this entire time. [ She doesn't join him on the ground yet, instead looking up towards the sky. ]
So. What's up?
no subject
[He offers her a small smile of gratitude. He feels like he knows her, too, really, but he hadn't wanted to impose, or to assume too much too soon.
But since she's fine with it... He looks away once more.]
Dextera told me something. It was a little while after the forest, after you all brought me back.

[ It's easy, in this paradise, to be removed from such troubles; quietness of the water before them soothes, the warmth of the breeze is calms... But outside, beyond the safety of Elysium, beyond the realm where all was once at peace with god... things are complicated. She won't say that she doesn't appreciate this respite though, the ability to take a step back and really look at things from a larger perspective. ]
Something not good, from the sound of it. [ She won't ask what it is specifically, but she will listen to what he has to say. It's the best she can do for a friend. ]
no subject
He lets out a soft breath. Like this, it's a little easier.]
He said... Ryo is in love with me. [It's still weird to think about, even now he's had time to get used to the idea.] But I know Ryo doesn't understand his own feelings-- he'd probably think I was crazy if I tried to talk to him about it.
1/2
But that's an impulsive thing to say, a half-joke to delay for time as she gathers her thoughts on it. ] That's...
no subject
[ Okay, she knows she got this because she asked about it and said she would listen, but that doesn't mean she's actually good at giving advice!
...Even if she really, really wants to help him with this, since he does seem very troubled by it all. Still, she can... kind of understand Ryo's position, of not being particularly good with emotions, and having only gained human ones recently. ] ....Maybe... he's scared of accepting them. [ She starts out, quiet. ] Especially with something like love and caring for someone-- those are... they're the scariest ones out there. [ From experience, anyway. ]
It's easier to deny them. [ Again, from experience. ] Or to rationalize them like "I only care so far as this person is useful to me" or "this person interests or amuses me, so I'll look out for them".
For someone who has never loved or cared for another before, love can be... something to fear.
no subject
Ryo would rationalise it by pulling some science on me. "Love is the brain making people act weird, here's a study I read." [...Okay, so maybe Akira doesn't know enough science to do an accurate impression of Ryo, but he tried.]
I just want him to be happy. But if he doesn't listen to me about this, he won't listen to anyone.
[And Akira had, in a way, already been let down once by Pyra. Getting snubbed by Ryo after that would hurt.]
no subject
[ She definitely sympathizes, though, with the both of them: Akira for not knowing exactly how to talk to his friend about something so important, and Ryo for not knowing how to deal with emotions. ] I.... wasn’t the best with emotions before.
[ Closing her eyes for a second, she recall’s someone else’s words to her from long ago: “Gradually, you become more and more human.” ]
Having them, much less caring for others, was an unknown territory.
[ Bringing her knees up to her, she leans forward and wraps her arms around them. ] I never got to say to others how much I cared for them because of it... And by the time I realized it, it became too late.
[ She’s not as expressive in her sorrow as Pyra, but in this instance her voice does carry a deep respect and sense of loss as she reflects upon her past. ] I hope that Ryo doesn’t make the same mistake I did, of denying emotions or waiting too long.
[ Her own story isn’t the point, however, so she continues: ] Back then... I think I would have appreciated someone [ She tilts her head, her long hair falling over her shoulder as she looks at him. ] ...who would have talked to me more about those things. Even if I would have been obtuse and stubborn in return.
It’s too late for me, but you may have the opportunity here to help him still.
no subject
[He sits up fully, looking across at her. He doesn't know her full story, but he still understands. There were so many things he had wanted to tell his parents, all those years that they left him behind. And when demons finally took them, all his mother could do was apologise for not being there enough for him. He never told them how much he missed them and was devastated by their leaving. They barely spoke to him at all, and died regretting it.
He runs a hand through his hair.]
You're right. I'll be honest with him about everything... and leave the rest to him. At least then, he'll know I understand how he feels.
[Even if Ryo doesn't understand himself, Akira having a read on his feelings has always been at the core of their relationship, over the years. It seems fitting.]
It might be too late to talk to your loved ones, but is there anything else you want to talk about? If there was anything you wanted to get off your chest, to anyone. [Mythra listened to his problems, the least he can do is give a listening ear for someone who hasn't had one in a very long time.]
no subject
As for his other question, she slowly exhales, looking back out towards the lake. She has to think about that for a moment, of what she wants to say. ]
I suppose you could say that I'm having friend-troubles... Or Pyra is. [ A pause. Again, coming back to Elysium always lets her reflect with a clearer mind, since the world just seems so far away. ] We told someone close to us about us being... a weapon. And dangerous. Wei Wuxian. Unlike you, though, we're certain he fears us... or, fears how we might react to things. What did he expect, that we'd blow up the world because we couldn't plan a damn wedding? [ Her smirk is self-depreciating, her tone ringing hollow with its lightness, but it fades quickly. ]
And yeah, yeah, I know, talking would help. [ Mythra leans back on one hand while the other lifts to give a dismissive wave as she watches a breeze ripple the surface of the lake. ] But you know that thing people sometimes do, switching from emotion to emotion? Like when they're trying to avoid something or hide something? [ Pyra is guilty of doing that, too, sometimes, so she absolutely knows when she sees it in others. ] He does that in spades, you can't get a decent answer out of him.... At least, Pyra can't. Ever.
[ Her hand lowers, her lips pressing into a thin line. ] It's... fine, I suppose, if he fears us. We don't expect to be accepted by everyone, after they know. But I don't want him to pretend that he doesn't.
no subject
Mythra can't change what she is in essence, either, even if she can put a Pyra-shaped seal over it.]
...Maybe he just needs time. He's scared now, but if he's really your friend... If he really cares about you... he'll realise you don't mean any harm. [He turns his gaze to Mythra, and offers a small smile.] It's all about trust-- right?
no subject
a pyra-shaped sealMythra looks over at him, unable to hold back a small smile. ] Yeah.
Yeah, a little bit of time. Boys need that, right? [ In retrospect, she probably should also have given some other people time before coming to apologize to them.... Hah.
The fear she carries is great, and had been, in part, given to her from a man who had seen the horrors of a world already wrecked by a weapon like her before. He didn't want that to happen again, and, subconsciously when he had awakened her, her first human emotion that had imprinted from him was fear. So she can understand that, she thinks, when others fear her.
But she can also understand trust.
Another sigh, and she relaxes. ] And trust. It's important to believe in friends, and all that. [ All that, that sentimental stuff that Pyra's good at.
..... ] Thanks, Akira.

[If he had met Pyra and Mythra a while back before he was a Devilman, he probably would have been scared witless of the kind of raw power she has, even if he does believe in her. He pats her arm as a gesture of encouragement.]
If people are still scared, I don't mind if you tell them about our promise. Maybe knowing someone is looking out for you would help them feel better.
no subject
But since he's mentioned their promise: ] ...But that would involve giving away your secret. [ Because how would anyone believe that Akira, without knowing he's a Devilman, could stop someone like her? ] I'm not going to do that, if it compromises you.
