Tonbokiri is kind not to say anything about the gaps in the bushes or the way they don't completely cover a spear, in either sense, because Keigo is sure he's killing this sneaking around stuff.

"Right! I'm on it!"

He leads Tonbokiri through a few more rounds of moving from hiding place to hiding place. While it's not a good thing, it is helpful that so many are still out in the woods, leaving their path clear beyond that first encounter with a passerby. It's all going so well until he sets out to find another bush or outcropping of wall or cottage turned just the right way to shield them and walks and keeps walking...

He looks less sure of himself than he has on this whole mission when he returns.
